Insurgent

Hi avid readers of the internet Becky here with another review on the popular book series "Divergent" by Veronica Roth
so are you sitting comfortably and I'll begin the story (like the play on words)
the synopsis of Insurgent is pretty simple we see Tris (Beatrice Prior) and Tobias and fellow abnegation (selfless faction) members run from The erudite faction and their leader Jeanine Matthews... We also see Tris come to terms with certain deaths in the first book we also find out the truth behind why Divergent's are a threat to the system! (No I shall not reveal spoilers so =P)  Now before I continue I shall remind you of the factions
Candor- Honesty
Erudite- Intelligence
Amity- Peace
Abnegation- Selflessness
and the one no one wants to join
Factionless  I think we all know what this means; Almost all the characters are alive in this book I will not reveal who died and who survives so you shall have to read Insurgent for yourself,
the themes of the book are: Discrimination, War, Death and Corruption
Now the reason I love this book (I still prefer the hunger games as I feel a more emotional connection with the characters and I believe the love story between Katniss and Peeta Don't worry Divergent is next in the list of my favourite book SORRY FOR RAMBLING DON'T HATE ME NEITHER DIVERGENT FANS!!!) As I was saying I love the book because it proves it's ok to be different this book also proves that you can be whoever you want to be and that truly everyone is "Divergent" and that you can stand up for the people you care about and that's why so many people connect to this book just as much as the hunger games. to finish of my review I want to know what faction you would be in and if you were Divergent what factions would you have to choose from?

US and UK covers (US have the better covers)
I know I'd be Divergent I would have to choose between Erudite, Abnegation and Dauntless
you can buy the books herehere, (uk only)here and (Uk only) here

as usual it was a pleasure blogging for you until the next post have a great day or night

Divergent

HAPPY NEW YEAR avid readers of the internet (sorry it's a bit late i was busy) and for today's review i am reviewing DIVERGENT (yep fellow divergent fandom member rejoice as it is being turned into a movie this march) and so I have watched the trailers before I read the book so I had no idea what the plot was so I decided to read the books (I'm rambling again sorry)

Synopsis (plot)
We follow sixteen year old Beatrice prior in a futuristic version of America where once you turn sixteen you have a choice to either stay where you were born aka a fraction you can be split into five fractions
Candor- Truth
Amity - compassion and kindness
Erudite - Intelligence
Dauntless - Bravery
Abnegation- Selflessness (not to be selfish)
But before you choose in this big public ceremony you have a test and when Tris's (Beatrice) tests show she is Divergent (people who belong to more than one fraction and cannot be moulded into a certain fractions way of thinking) she fits into three category's Dauntless, Abnegation and Erudite!
After that we see her go off to the ceremony where she chooses Dauntless and her brother chooses Erudite. Soon after you face initiation where you face your fears in simulations called fear landscapes while on top of this she befriends Christina, Will, Albert (Al) Uriah and Edward and meets Four (Tobias Eaton)  Soon after the simulations Albert starts to torment Tris Some time after this incident the Dauntless  initiates face the final stage to become proper members of the fraction Tris, Will, Christina (who is now dating Will), Uriah, Shauna, Marlene and Peter make it through whereas Molly and Drew and the other initiates become Fraction-less and after that everyone get injected with a tracker , when she awakes she finds everyone in a trance like state and everyone in Dauntless begin to start killing everyone in Abnegation...   gets she soon develops a plan in which they stop the simulation to the Dauntless
This was all caused by jeanine matthew's the antagonist of the series

I loved this book as it's full of action and comical humour and I'm already 75% through Insurgent I can't wait to finish and read Allegiant you can buy it here   and here  as usual it was a pleasure blogging for you until the next post have a good time bye

She finds it very hard to come to terms with and still thinks Kristen is alive while in the midst of all this she befriends the mysterious Caspian who has secrets of his own, she starts to fall in love with but soon she starts to doubt her own sanity when she learns a secret that makes her question everything she thought she knew about  her best friend

Noughts and crosses (RE-REVIEWED)

Hi avid readers of all shapes and sizes MERRY CHRISTMAS Now today I shall review "Noughts and crosses " By Malorie Blackman  now this is the first book out of a four book series, It's about the
dystopian future where the world is not as it seems as black people known as "Crosses" are in charge of the world where white people are known as"Noughts", there are two main protagonists in this book Callum who is a "Nought" and Persephony  (Sephy) a "Cross:" who are childhood friends but when a deadly romantic passion emerges Sephy and Callum are determined to find a way to stay with each other!
Characters
Callum- Nought in love with cross Sephy
Sephy (persephone)- Cross in love with nought Callum
Jasmine/Kamal- Sephy and Minevira's parents
Mineveria (Minnie)- Sephy's sister
Maggie/Ryan-Callum, Jude and Lynette's mum and dad
Jude- Callum/ Lynette's brother
Book cover
Lynette- callum and Jude older sister

I'm not a big fan of this book as the pacing within the books is really slow and I found myself getting bored quickly I'm still on page 98 and stuck there. I think this storyline has great potential... but the fact that you find out the actual storyline very slowly just makes the book slow, repetitive and it just lags making you bored and uninterested,

I have one or two good points: The fact that Callum and Sephy's relationship is slow and steady and full of passion helps you read on just a little bit more.... Just not enough for me to find the will to finish the book,

Also the fact that it makes you wonder how much we take for granted and that racism and prejudices' are still apart of the world even though we have developed and evolved it also shows us that if the worlds history was just a little different how would the world turn out?  why? and this book tries to make us understand that which is a good pro for the book but it just isn't enough for this book to be interesting to me... And I usually love Malorie Blackman books, eg: The stuff of nightmares so the fact I didn't like this book has made me a little sad

here   and here
so I hope you enjoyed the review dont forget MERRY CHRISTMAS until the next review bye bye

the hunger games catching fire

hey guys I am back with (oh you know what I'm back with I'm just going to get on with the review) THE HUNGER GAMES CATCHING FIRE!!! yep I am reviewing this and it is definitely the right time to review it seeing as the movie is coming out very soon!
What happens is since the incident of the berries during the 74th hunger games the districts of Panem  are starting a second rebellion as Katniss gave them hope, now when she gets home she is told by president Snow to try to stop the second rebellion,
she then finds out that district thirteen is alive and kicking as well as it being the year of the 75th hunger games (Third Quarter Quell) and previous victors (including Katniss and Peeta) are called back into the games, Will Katniss survive?
This book you will never put down its tear jerking and a emotional rollercoaster i recommend you buy it, A thought provoking read, My favourite character is Finnick  as he isn't as egotistical as he acts to be and has a great sense of humour (for the love triangle I'm confused I'm not sure about Gale  as he knows Katniss way better than Peeta and looked out for her but becomes a douchebag! And I don't know about Peeta as he's been through the games with and knows what she fears and actually saved her life) but aside from that here are a list of characters

the tributes I remember

Cashmere and Gloss
Brutus and Enobaria
Beetee and Wiress
District 4 Finnick Odair and Mags (Annie Cresta mentioned, Mags volunteered for Annie also Finnick's love interest)
District 5 tributes are never mentioned
District 6 tributes are never mentioned
District 7 Johanna Mason
District 8 Cecelia
District 9 never mentioned
District 10 never mentioned
District 11 Seeder
District 12 Peeta Mellark And Katniss Everdeen (Haymitch Abernathy mentor, Peeta volunteered for Haymitch and Peeta is also a love interest of Katniss) (Katniss's dad died in a mining accident along with Gale's dad)

Other important characters
Gale: Katniss's best friend and love interest (His father died in a mining accident at the same time as Katniss and Prim's dad)
Primrose/Prim: Katniss's younger sister (Father died in a mining accident

Soulmates by Holly Bourne

Hey guys I am back ( sorry for a long wait for the new post was trying to finish this book) now today I am reviewing a book called "Soulmates"

Soulmates book cover
it's a debut by British writer Holly Bourne; This book is about this seventeen year old girl called Poppy who meets this boy called Noah and basically (I think you've already guessed this) they fall in love but there soulmates,
BUT not alot of them meet so mysterious, strange stuff happens stuff like: Blackouts, earthquakes and other natural disasters (now I shall not reveal anymore its up-to you to read the book)   But I shall tell you the characters.

Poppy Lawson- seventeen year old college student also Noah's soulmate
Noah Jenkins- eighteen year old bass guitarist for the local band also Poppy's soulmate
Lizzie- Poppy's friend and journalist
Ruth- Poppy's friend and local heart breaker
Amanda- Poppy's friend and Johno's girlfriend
Johno- Amanda's boyfriend
Frank- Poppy's friend in college
Dr Anita Beaumont- A doctor that helps conduct experiments on soulmates
Dr Rain- Dr Beaumont's assistant
I really enjoyed this book as it has a really brilliant storyline as it takes what we think of "soulmates" and turns it upside down (in a good way) I also like the fact I can relate to the characters and the fact that their personalities are so lifelike!

Also I love Poppy's friend Lizzie she adds humour to the book as well as some well needed guidance she has alot of determination especially when she decides to write a article for the local newspaper
I also like frank he has a good sense of humour and also likes to insult people and acts so hipster-ish at times which makes him such a cool relaxed character that adds even more mysterious to the book

and I shall tell you now the ending is so heart breaking I shed a tear! you can find the book at here and Here
till the next post see ya next time

Cookie

Cookie is a book about a girl called beauty cookson and her mum and their life with beauty's abusive dad and being bullied at school, moving away and starting a new life with her mum.

Cookie UK book cover
I found parts of the book very heartbreaking... especially when Beauty's pet bunny died due to her dad letting it out of its hutch and letting it be eaten by a fox, and this was all because her dad doesn't want a pet in the house.  But I like because it proves even the people that seem the weakest are the strongest
 Characters
(I haven't read this book in ages so I will check the character names when I get home)
Beauty Cookson (Cookie)- 12 year old girl being abused by her father
Miss Cookson- Cookies mum also abused by her husband
Mr Cookson- Cookies father who is abusive
Skye- Cookies bully
Rhona- Skye and Cookie's friend
Tim and Princess (I've gotten the name's wrong I think) - Become cookies friends when cookie moves away
Sam/Hutch- Cookies favourite TV presenter and his pet rabbit
My favourite character has to be Beauty as she has a heart of gold, shes so sweet and tries not to let anything get to her.  I love the fact she got over her bullying very well when she moved away from her abusive father, I mean she did cry a little and shouted at her mum... Wouldn't you if you'd have been bullied by a very snobbish girl?

My least favourite character is Skye, she is such a stuck up one dimensional character, who only thinks of herself, she doesnt care who she hurts to get what she wants... I know we have people like that in reality but in a book you feel what the main character feels... And I felt so sorry for cookie as Skye was one of the people that pushed Cookie to her breaking point

a emotional heartbreaking story that must be read it is a beautifullly written book with suspense in every page and it makes yu cry #prepareforthetissues buy it at here

I love this book as it has a action packed story filled with constant suspense and drama... Oh quick note your favourite character may die,
Anyway back to why I like the book... I love Katniss's fiery attitude and sometimes stubborn impulsive nature and her quick wits, I love the fact she has a kindness and warmth about her especially with Rue and Prim, Also her sense of humour is absolutely BRILLIANT!
