Percy Jackson and the lightening thief by Rick Riordan

Hello avid readers of the internet. I am back with another review! This week I'm reviewing book one in the Percy Jackson series: Percy Jackson and the lightening thief, By Rick Riordan.
Percy Jackson book cover
(UK)
The story itself is very imaginative, as it's about a twelve year old boy (named Percy as we can infer)  who is the son of Poseidon, and is known as a "Demi-god" as he is carted off to Half-Blood camp, (Home to all Demi-god children) and is soon accused of stealing Zeus's lightening bolt, he and his friends Annabeth (Daughter of Athena) and Satyr (and my favourite character) Grover to find out who stole the lightening bolt and clear his name!

Characters:
  • Percy Jackson- Son of Poseidon
  • Annabeth- percy's best friend and daughter of Athena
  • Grover- (my favourite character) and a satyr
  • Clarisse- Daughter of Ares and Percy's bully
  •  Luke- Son of Hermes and Kronos's henchman
  • Thalia- Dead friend of Luke, Annabeth and Grover who was turned into a tree to protect Camp Half-Blood
  • Chiron- Mentor at Camp Half-Blood he's a centaur
  • Medusa,Crusty and Mrs Dodds and the furies- Mythical legends who try to defeat the trio
  • Ares- God of war and Clarisses dad
  • Zeus- God of the sky and leader
  • Poseidon- God of the sea and Percy's dad
  • Hades- God of the underworld
  • Mr.D (Dionysus)- God of wine and mentor at Camp Half-Blood
  • Persephone- Hades wife
  • Sally Jackson-Percy's mum
  • Gabe Ugliano- Percy's horrible step Dad
I love this book as: (a) Funny chapter titles make you cry with laughter... Also helps the reader want to read on as the chapter titles are interesting

(b) The story is perfectly paced which makes the book interesting and makes sure the reader doesn't lose focus making the book easy to read which is good for kids who are seven or eight... It also makes it a perfect length for this type of book making sure the story isn't dragged on for too long! Which makes you want to read the next book even more as the length makes you feel as if your hunger for adventure and suspense has not been fulfilled  leaving you with a sense of "MY-LIFE-ISN'T- COMPLETE- TILL- I -READ- ALL- THE- BOOKS"

(c) The book is filled with action, suspense and witty humour ie: You drool in your sleep. This book is always full of surprises eg: Mattress store owner wants to kill you and action: fighting monsters on a school trip, this continually makes you go from laughing out loud to a big adrenaline rush trying to find out how percy defeats medusa

(d) You learn a lot about mythology and greek gods making it the perfect book for kids to secretly learn as their interested in the story while absorbing the information about Chiron, Dionysus and Ares. This is certainly a book for all ages.

(e) The characters personalities develop a lot in this book making the characters relatable and making us all wish we were "Demi-gods"
Quote " You drool in your sleep" Annabeth Chase

Overall the book was a enjoyable read certainly perfect for all ages you can buy the books here and here
